Why your child should visit us every six months
Why does a dentist need to check my child’s teeth twice a year?
Dentists don't just check your child’s teeth for tooth decay. They evaluate the health of your child’s gums, tongue, throat and lips, check saliva flow and assess the movement of the lower jaw.
Plaque and tarter can build up in a very short time. If not removed, soft plaque can harden and cause infection leading to bleeding gums. Bleeding gums are often the first sign of gum disease which, if left untreated, commonly causes the loss of teeth.
Have your child’s mouth professionally checked every six months to diagnose tooth decay and gum disease.
Has it been over six months?
It is not worth the risk waiting longer than six months.
Early signs of decay and gum disease do NOT cause pain.
Those who attend regular dental check-ups will generally spend the least amount of time and money on dentistry over a lifetime than those who only attend when in pain or when they feel a tooth needs fixing.
Your child’s first visit to the dentist
Through their early developmental years, your child’s mouth goes through a lot of changes. It is important to visit us every six months from 2 years of age to promote good dental health habits and to receive dental education and preventative treatments.
Your child’s first visit to the dentist will shape their view of dental treatment for the rest of their life. We strive to make their first dental experience enjoyable and fun.
