Mercury Free Fillings
Dental fillings are used to repair worn, decayed or damaged teeth
Resin composite fillings have been the material of choice for tooth fillings for more than two decades, and advances in materials and techniques mean that our white fillings are even more natural looking, more polished, and have an improved combination of strength, finish and longevity.
Is it time to replace your old amalgam fillings?
Amalgam fillings (mercury fillings) were previously the most commonly used filling to repair and fill teeth. Amalgam is a metal which expands as it ages causing leakage and cracks in teeth. We can remove your amalgam fillings and replace them with tooth-coloured composite fillings.
We do not use or have any amalgam filling material in our practice.
We use the following protocols when removing amalgam fillings:
A rubber dam, fitted around your tooth to ensure amalgam debris is not swallowed
Maximum suction to ensure amalgam is removed quickly
High water spray when drilling to reduce the temperature of the amalgam and minimise vapour release
